Neutral gets such a bad rap. People hear it and think safe, think boring, think you couldn't decide. But some of our favourite homes are the quiet ones, and this is exactly why.

We started where the brief asked us to: a calm shell. Warm greige, matte finishes, soft curved forms you kind of want to touch as you walk past. Then we had a bit of fun with the stone. A sunset-toned kitchen backsplash (Arabescato Orobico) that looks mid-glow, warm and almost molten. A little green marble in the bath to finish. None of it shouts. You notice them one at a time, like clocking someone's really nice shoes halfway through a chat.

That's the part we love. The luxe isn't loud, it's just placed properly. And the neutral was never the boring choice, it's the whole reason the stone gets to shine.

Quiet had range all along. Hue knew.
